In a yin yoga class, you'll work through a series of seated or reclined poses, mainly targeting the lower body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower spine. The poses are passive, meaning you'll get into the position and then remain still, holding the shape without muscular engagement. 

The goal is to relax the muscles and allow gravity and time to create a gentle, sustained stretch on the connective tissues. This approach helps increase flexibility, release tension, and improve joint mobility over time.
